The morning had broken and went by, letting the day proceed in its natural cours. And also as the day went by its nature, a certain nereid did just as so. Swimming around under the surface, the creature tried to soothe its boredom by finding something interesting in its bog. Like a frog that could be chased out of the water and being delightfully squished under the creature's hooves. Such a joy. But none such thing could be found, so that the creature retreated further underwater, searching on the bog's ground for bones of long eaten meals. One could pass boredom with those if one just was creative enough. But perhaps the creature should just use it to pick its teeth, having something stuck between them that bothered them a little. Not too much that it was immediately noticable, but now, in the midst of boredom, such details were found. The kelpie had just found a small bone perfect for the job, when it felt rippled in the water. Faint enough to stay unnoticed by any other creature, but he was no one to let such a thing stay unnoticed. This meant that someone was nearby. Whoever it was, shee or mortal, it was at least someone. And someone meant entertainment. The shee quickly forgot about its previous objective and now swam upwards again. He emerged from the water without making a sound in a part where enough plants and grass grew, so that he would stay unnoticed. There, at the edge of the bog, was a mare. She did not look like she attempted to stop, he he had to stop her. Without making a noise, the kelpie submerged into the bog water again and closed in on its targed. He went as close as he could get and then emerged himself from the bog, covered in mist to hide him momentarily. When he mare would see him, he would look nothing like the black kelpie that he was, but like a muscular stallion with golden shimmering fur and a black mane, so that the seaweed in it would not immediately be noticed by her. The only catch were the yellowish goating eyes and the sharp teeth that he kept even after the transformation, but he was sure that he was looking handsome and enticing enough so that she would ignore it. "Oh most beautiful of the beautiful, goddess of mares. For long I have been imprisoned in these waters, waiting for a passer-by to free me from this curse. Lie but the very tip of your hoof against my fur and I will forever be belonging to you. All your wishes I will make true and no joy will be left unfelt." he said in a rich and full voice that surely would make any mare obey his wish.

~~Aithne Heranor~~ Mist swirled mysteriously around the foreboding trees of Jengu forest. The air was humid, and and it was difficult to tell if the occasional showers that punctuated the afternoon were from the sky or merely the trees shedding excess water. Everything was damp and gloomy, as Jengu is prone to be. Aithne cursed the whim that brought her to this horrid place. She was damp, from hoof to ears to bloodred cloak, and there was nothing, NOTHING she hated more than getting wet. Water was everywhere. Though Jengu can be dangerous, she knew herself more than a match for anything that may see her. She went along loudly, carelessly, bright red and gold attire standing out like a sore thumb from the gloomy atmosphere around her. Her grumpy expression DARED anyone to approach her trying to cause trouble. Until, someone did. A tall, strapping golden stallion who looked just as damp as the forest she was stuck in stepped out of the mist quite suddenly, flattering words pouring out of his mouth, imploring her to touch him or some other silly thing. She came to an abrupt halt and stared at the newcomer through narrowed eyes. If he was a mortal, death would soon be upon him. But no. Something smelled off, and his sudden appearance was not typical of mortal behavior. He was fae, though of what type she was unsure. "My only wish is to be dry and my greatest joy is found in relieving mortals of their pathetic lives. Unless you offer a death for my amusement, you have nothing I desire, and it would please me greatly to leave you to your curse." She snapped. She stood her ground warily, ready to attack if need be. Aithne was in no mood to be trifled with.

The kelpie blinked as he smelled the air. Fae. She was of the shee as well, but that did not matter much to him. She would still offer some amusement to his otherwise plain course of day. "What an utmost shame this is." he said and shook his head in a sad manner, still keeping up the act for the moment being. "But it would not bring much anyway, as damp as you are. You'd slip right off and I, majestic little creature I, would look like an utter fool. A wise choice therefore." As he spoke, his voice shifted from a rich tone to a snarky one and the muscles on his body withered, taking the golden colour of his fur with them, leaving behind just the black fur of a kelpie. "Do go on though. Your suggestion peaks my interest. Ending the life of a mortal you say? Even though the cosmos despises me, it sometimes sends little gifts in forms of lost travelers here to my bog. An atmost delight it is to lure them close and charm them into the waters, so I can eat them piece by piece. So, when you say ending their lives, do you speak of mauling, maiming and devouring? Because, I would devour them if I were you." The kelpie thought for a moment. "And how fortunate, I am me. So if you happen to see a mortal, just bring them here and you'd do both of us a great favour of curing the curse that is boredom." He gave the mare a fanged smile. "Do tell, shee, you are one I not often encounter. While your beauty matches one, you are no siren. No siren would hold the wish to be dry. Neither are you a puddlefoot, due to the same problem and a púca you as well cannot be, for your coat is not black. So do tell, are you perhaps of the Ace Shee? The high fae? If so, then you have my undying admiration." He made a slight bow with the head and threw her a grin that showed his sharp teeth. "You do have quite the high standing in the court, the Unseelie I mean." The kelpie suddenly had a pensive look before he grinned again. "You know, when the court does hear about Cissus, the most ferocious and noblest kelpies of them all, then I might show you the way to a less damp place in Jengu, might even have some mortals there. I don't do dry, despise it even, so the price for this favour has to be paid." A high Unseelie in need at his bog! What a precious opportunity! The kelpie would not let such a precious chance slip. He did, however, not ignore the aura of danger that surrounded the mare. On the first sign of her attacking him, he would simply retrat underwater. She despised the water, so she would not follow him and he was safe. Under any circumstances, it was more entertaining than picking one's teeth with old bones.

~~Aithne Heranor~~
As the handsome golden stallion transformed into a scrawny looking black kelpie, Aithne relaxed a little. Kelpies posed little threat to a fae as powerful as she. He was skinny but snarky, and she could not decide if she liked his tone, but at least he was no Caspana. With any luck, this goat-eyed bottom feeder would be of use to her. But he needed to know her power first. Though being in such a damp environment did make the fire a bit more reluctant to show itself (she would be summoning no grand infernos in her current state), Aithne was confident in her ability to intimidate. She gathered herself up, head held high and looking as imposing as she could muster, which was considerable. Letting loose a little bit of her magic, the leaves around her began smouldering, sending up a bit of smoke and little flames began to lick around her legs. "I am called Aithne. I am a goddess, daughter of a god, and I do not devour my mortal enemies." Her eyes grew wide, the flames grew larger, and she gave an unsettling grin. "I DISINTEGRATE them." She held his gaze just long enough to feel she had gotten her point across and then allowed herself to relax, flames dying down. "But perhaps, if you prove of use to me, i will send you along a meal or to that isnt too burnt." She considered the kelpie for a moment and then added, "and perhaps i may mention your services to the court, and they will send playthings your way as well. But that is assuming you can show me the way to a more pleasant area of Jengu."

As flames started to lick at the mare's legs and at the shore, the kelpie retreated further into the water to not accidently get anything dry stuck to him. He had heard of kelpies who had made the mistake to get stuck on dry stone and then died there, because they could not move the heavy weight with them but could also not let go of it. This was a fate Cissus did not desire to share. He gave the self-proclaimed goddess a pensive look. When she liked to play with fire, then he was in danger. On the other hand, she was willing to mention him to the court. The chance of getting sent playthings his way was also enticing. It would make hunting that much easier and life a lot more interesting. "That I can lead you to a drier place is possible. Yes, very possible. But if I may be so bold to set a condition, then it would be that I do not want to touch any dryness for my own wellbeing's sake. So do better not burn, ignite or calcine anything with your godly powers, otherwise I might get stuck and I assure you, that would not be amusing for either of us." The kelpie said and swam a few meters to the side to exit the bog at a part that had not been dried by the shee's flames. He looked up to the small specks of sky that were visible through the tree tops and noticed that slight drizzle that had started to fall. If it was from the actual sky or the trees, he could not tell, but he was thankful for it anyway. "The way out of the bogs and swamps is a twisted and long one. I do hope you don't mind shellycoats. Me personally, I do mind them. Nasty, annoying Seelie, that's what they are. Us noble kelpies get confused with their mortal-licking kind when we get too much dry things stuck to us and therefore rattle when trying to stealth, just like a shellycoat. Very unbecoming. I do mortal-licking too, but in a more literal kind of sense, going hand in hand with mangling and eating them. The shellycoats just trick mortals to abandon the road and, Epona and Danu forbid, they leave them like that. Just leave them! Can you imagine? What an utmost waste of time. Why go through the trouble of tricking a mortal when one gets nothing but a good laugh out of their unfortunate misery? No, this certainly lacks class." Cissus shook his head as he started to wander through the damp forest. It was pleasant to have it in such a thick dampness, making him able to wander more. This certainly made for a nice change of his daily routine. "Or dare I say, while wandering through the land with ponds and pools, we might even encounter an urisk! A Seelie to its very bone. Tries to engage with mortals. Fortunately, they are so ugly, that mortals usually flee upon seeing them, saving the urisk from committing further blasphemies." The kelpie shook his head. "Frankly, with that behavior of theirs I wonder how the Seelie Court is still up and standing. We do not need such perversions, so it is a good thing that Seelie and Unseelie do not see eye to eye. And really, how could they? We are much more noble and cultivated than they are." The nereid rambled as they went. He hadn't talked to anyone in weeks, so it was good to have a fellow Unseelie to discuss the outragous acts of the Seelie Court with.

Aithne was pleased to watch the Kelpie retreat further into the water. She had obviously made him nervous, as intended. Father forbid he not be afraid of her and then try to double cross her or lead her somewhere even worse, more WET. Luckily her display had managed to make him uneasy without scaring him off. He voiced his concern about dry things and she nodded. "I will keep my fire away from you and your surroundings for as long as you stay on good terms with me, kelpie." Just then, it started showering again, making her damp once more and reminding her why she was bargaining with this kelpie to begin with. "But lets get moving before i drown and neither of us profit." The kelpie started walking and she followed her unusual guide, half listening to his rambling about the inferior seelies and half daydreaming about sleeping by a warm, and more importantly, DRY fireside in Heranor Castle. She abruptly noticed he had finished talking for the moment and decided that courtesy dedmanded she say something in response. There was no point in alianating her traveling partner or else a very long and boring trek it would be, indeed. "If we do come across any Seelies I will be happy to stop their blasphemy quite suddenly and permanently." She smirked. "Lucky for us the forest allows quite a bit of privacy. No one around to ask messy questions." Much to her own suprise, she had found this kelpies discussion of the different kinds of Seelies interesting. As a filly, her life had centered around combat and magic training. She was not well read, having little patience for books, and knew merely of things she heard about and things she encountered in her wanderings. "Tell me more about the natives of this forest, kelpie, seelie and unseelie alike. I am not a native to this region, and have never heard of some of those you speak of." She paused, and, in a rare bout of consideration, tried to remember his name. Saycus? Cissus? Perhaps she would ask again in a moment.

The kelpie smirked. "Telling you more about the natives? Well, there are a lot of them, so this might take a while. Though I suppose it would be wise to start with the Queens of the Unseelie. As for us kelpies, our queen is her majesty Viridis. Ferocious and merciless as a proper leader should be and therefore more than justly fit as our queen. She does not allow blasphemous behaviour like that of the Seelie, and if it does happen, then, well, let's say the traitor will not have long to live afterwards." The kelpie gave a fanged smile. "She, however, is not the highest queen of the Unseelie Court. A shame, but true. The highest of the highest is the Mórrigàn. She is the queen of the changelings and a very mysterious being at that, even for queen standards. Well, it could be because most of her direct subjects do not even know that she exists at all, being raised away from Jengu by mortals and all. I have to give them credit, though. They usually succeed to let the mortals fall into great misfortune and misery while they stay there. I personally prefer the direct, quick method, but to everyone their own, I suppose. Changelings let their hosts suffer over years and years before finally exposing themselves. And when that happens, they are cast out and turn against the mortals that now hate them until they get a child of their own and dump it on the doorstep of the next best mortal. Such is the circle of life I guess. Really, not my style at all. The Mórrigàn, their queen, does have style, though. She is powerful beyond belief and is said to even be able to see the future. She does not grant favours though and is not seen by anyone except when the court gathers. Changelings are loners, so I guess she does not like company much. But it's not my position to judge. I am just a simple bog kelpie after all." Cissus thought for a bit before continuing.
"About every race has a queen in the court and I do not know the entire forest and all of their natives, so I can only name you a few more that I know of. There would be the Grimalkins, or Caith Sidhe, whatever you prefer to call them. Cat shee. They are too complicated to explain. Moody, deceitful and so on. I am more familiar with my kin and those related to kelpies by either being nereid or shapeshifters. Those are more uncomplicated to get along with."
The kelpie was about to continue talking when he noticed something brushing by his leg and he looked down. A mouse had crossed their path and despite the weather, its fur was mostly dry, placing it in the unfortunate misery of being stuck to the kelpie's leg now and squeaking in panic. Cissus drew back his upper lip and snarled a little annoyed before stopping. The mouse's fur would not get off, but that didn't mean that the mouse itself wouldn't. He bent his head down to the animal, closed around it with his teeth and bit down. The fur and a little bit of skin were left on his leg, but it would eventually rot away. He chewed on the small creature for a bit and then swallowed. "I hate small prey like this. The bones are too much work to pick out, so I just swallow them whole." He said and shook his head in disdain. He should have just spit the mouse out and leave to an Alp-luachra to eat. Well, too late now, unless he allowed one of the newt-fae to crawl down his throat to eat the mouse away. But he doubted they would pick the bones out of it. "It makes one wish an Alp-luachra would make itself useful for once. They are of the shee too, also when they are often mistaken for newts, due to looking like them. They crawl down their victim's throat to eat something from the last meal that one ate, right from out of their stomach. Not very appetising if you ask me." The nereid shuddered.
"Speaking of not very appetising, the Caith Sidhe apparently eat mice all day long. I do understand them being cats, but really, what a nasty choice! Those squeakers are good for nothing and barely have anything but bone on them. Really, not worth it." The kelpie shook its head, sending droplets of water flying in all directions as he did. "I have forgotten their queen's name, but they have one. I weird clan they are, though. I do not associate with them." As if to underline his statement, Cissus raised his head in a snobby and proud manner.
In contrary to them, there are also those I do get along with very well. Sirens and púcas most especially. The former shares my love of luring mortals to the water and drowning them while the latter is just equine and a shapeshifter like I. Sirens are shapeshifters too, but they can only shift from water to land form and that also not for very long. What they lack in talent when it comes to shapeshifting, they make up with their beauty. Unfortunately, they do not like bogs very much, so I rarely see any of them. Their queen changes frequently and I don't know the name of their current one, but I know that they mainly care about devouring mortals, their netherworld-forsaken voices and their looks. At least I can appreciate one of those things. Púcas are easier to get along with, though they definitely lack in ferociousness. Sometimes I do not get how they can be part of the Unseelie Court. They do not kill mortals that often and even give them wisdoms. Like, honestly, what kind of behaviour is that!? Their queen does not just tolerate, but even encourage it! I heard that in the old times, Púcas were much more admirable. Letting those ancient ones have rides on their backs and then dumping them in a thorny ditch while trotting away laughing. They found enjoyment in the mortals' suffering back then. Nowadays they are almost Seelie though. If there wouldn't be Triti, a distant acquaintance of mine, I would despise their kin. Triti has developed the, for me fortunate, habit, of luring mortals to my bog, which in turn gives me wonderful opportunities." Even though Cissus has claimed to get along well with sirens and púcas, it didn't really seem to be like that at all. Really, he found something to complain about every faerie kin, even kelpies, though he, as he said, posed as an exception, being noble and loyal to the court in any way.
"Like, there was this one fool who," Cissus gagged as he tried to get the words out, "fell in love with a mortal." He shook his head so intensely that he almost made the Heranor mare even wetter than she was. "Blasphemous wretch. Queen Viridis only heard of it when this race traitor had already married the mare." The kelpie smirked. "By Tír na nÓg! It was like the netherworld had risen to this realm! She searched even for some outside of her clan to track the traitor down and kill him and everyone related to him. Rightfully so. Mindsets like these should be erased at their root! I wasn't there myself, but I heard of it. Apparently, it looked very ugly. The traitor, Avalon forbid, even had children. Yes, not just one child, but several. Half mortals and he loved them." Again the kelpie shook his head. "Honestly, I cannot imagine how anyone would choose such a path of perversion. I do not deny half kelpie children to exist, especially outside of Jengu, but this is simply the result of overfed kelpies being bored and if a mare so happens to come along, one simply does not waste the opportunity. More often than not they are eaten afterwards." When the kelpie realised that he had talked for a long while already, he looked at his temporary travel companion. "Do tell, though, do such perversions also happen with your kin? And how do you deal with it? I do hope torture and death are involved." Cissus said and perked his ears with interest. He likes to hear scandalous stories of the kind he had just talked about and he was more than just curious as to how a kin, as powerful as the Aos Sí, dealt with such traitors.

It was not often she was so interested in what someone else had to say but hearing about all those different types of fae intrigued her. Changelings, especially; she began to hope she may meet one in her travels. The way they infiltrated and ruined their hosts very lives; it was a deliciously slow kind of torture she was not accustomed to. It did seem a little involved, however. It was strange that anyone would spend so much time on one mortal, as they were merely bugs to be crushed and eradicated. "I also prefer the quick, direct method. Incinerate them as soon as possible, be rid of the nasty things. I've never been one to play with my victims." She idly wondered if Eisblume knew of the changeling Queen; for she could likely be a powerful ally. Noticing the kelpie pause she watched in mild disgust as he swallowed a mouse raw and whole. She preferred her food cooked; although it had occurred to her that elementals of other types could not afford this luxury, she still found raw meat, especially still encased in skin and fur, to be quite unappetizing, at best. "I don't see how you can eat that thing whole and raw. I would choke." Cats were different creatures that she really did not know much about, but if the kelpie was to be believed then their eating habits were something she could not stomach. Mice, of all creatures.
His stories of traitors to his kind turned her stomach as well. How could anyone fall in love with a mortal, she had no idea. It was like falling in love with an ant. "I have seldom heard of one of my family fraternizing with mortals so intimately, but it would be disgraceful. Like having children with a witless! Uhg. The mate and any offspring would, of course, be disposed of. The mortal for daring to commit such BLASPHEMY and the offspring for being disgraces to nature. The immortal who committed such an act would likely not be killed, as the lives of my family are only taken in the most extreme of circumstances; however they would surely be locked away and...reeducated. In the end, it is up to our Elites how the perpetrator will be punished." Aithne shivered at the thought of anyone committing such a perverse act. "Though I must say, if I caught any one of my family engaged in such an unspeakable relationship, I cannot guarantee that anyone would emerge unscathed." Just thinking about it was making her body temperature rise far beyond normal levels. She breathed deeply for a moment to calm and cool herself. She must remember her promise to her guide; It would not do to accidentally dry the ground and have him stuck forever. That made a thought occur to her. "Wouldn't it have been delicious if they had taken the traitor kelpie out to the desert and left him there, stuck to the ground, to shrivel and suffocate in the heat and the sand? Seems a fitting end to someone who committed such a heinous crime."

The kelpie thought about this suggestion. "It surely would be torturous, but to go out of our way to drag him all the way to the desert would be wasted effort. As much as I heard, they still tortured him plenty. Having demons, who could touch it, sticking iron needles into him one by one and also filled his mouth with the cursed metal. Before his death, he must have suffered plenty." Cissus grinned. "A fitting end for such a treacherous act."
"But let's not talk about such perversions anymore. Otherwise, my last meal might show itself again." He shook his head again. "Let's rather discuss the deeds of some Seelie shee one can appreciate. Like the Adh Seid for example. While they do spare the innocents - quite a broad term since mortals are guilty of their sole existence - the Ash Seid haunt the homes of those who have done misdeeds and make them lose their sanity. If only they would expand on that concept a little more and not care about the deeds the mortals did. Driving one to insanity just for the sheer fun of it. Yes, they would be part of the Unseelie Court in the blink of an eye. Sadly they are too cowardly for that." The Fuath creature sighed and shook his head. "But speaking of Seelie behaving like Unseelie. I have heard water nymphs near Nordberg to behave quite out of character. Kidnapping children and killing people. If they would also eat people I would think it would be Hobyahs in disguise, but they are not. You are more local to that place than I am, so do you know anything about it? It would interest me greatly why infertile, friendly water spirits would suddenly start to kidnap children and attack their families." The kelpie's grin deepened. "In the end, it might even be you Aos Sí who have something to do with it. You often seem to peek your noses into the interests of the courts and try to sway them to your side when they are not on it already. Say, is that another one of your schemes or just a rebellion against nature itself?"

What? Water nymphs kidnapping children? She had not heard of this, but it interested her greatly. Perhaps it was Eisblumes doing. Perhaps not. Either way, she made a mental note of it; hopefully it was something she could look into later. "Sadly this I do not know. It is likely part of the scheme of one of my siblings, but even if it is not it is well worth looking into. Possibly these nymphs came to their senses and realized the inferiority of mortals, perhaps they have merely been driven mad by something. It is pleasing news to hear, regardless!"
She noticed the enviroment was beggining to get a bit more bright, and a bit more dry. This bolstered her spirits considerably; she might just make it out of this miserable place! SHe was suprised to find that the kelpie, though an inferior species by far, had proved to have many juicy tidbits of information about the politics of the world around them. "You seem to know much about the world outside of jengu, Kelpie, for one that does not leave his bog. How do you come across such information that even a wandering God knows naught of?"
Her ear flicked back momentarily; she thought she had heard a faint crunching noise in the nearby forest. Footsteps? Or perhaps nothing. She disregarded it and waited for the kelpies answer, which she was shure would be quick to arrive. He had a great gift for gab; which under most circumstances would be rather annoying, but in the vast expanse of Jengu it was a welcome entertainment.

Cissus
A sly smile crept on his face when the goddess asked him about his sources of information. "When one lives in solitude like me, one lusts for entertainment more than anything. At least something to happen and fill one's day with other things than the still bog water and those annoying dragonflies. Therefore, I have made it a habit to form connections. Information travels fast in Jengu and those who are either fast or can fly also bring news from more distant places. The shellycoat hears from the glasgavele, the puddlefoot hears from the shellycoat, the púca hears from the puddlefoot and the púca tells me. Triti is very informatory when it comes to those things and also reliant at that. Well, and I do pass it on to whoever happens to come to my bog, as you right now. And you will tell it to someone else eventually, so the chain continues. When one wanders, one can only hope to dig up certain pieces of stories and information, while in Jengu there is a very informative system. It is very useful sometimes and other times it is utmost annoying. Like the information of roaming mortals! Once it is out, other Unseelie hunt them down and kill them before they can arrive at my bog. I am an ambush predator, so I do not partake on hunts out of obvious reasons. The kelpie explained and with an expression of disdain noticed a dry leaf to stick on his leg. He snarled in frustration. Luckily, he noticed a nearby stream which he gladly jumped into. Walking in the stream would at some parts not be easy, but it at least was safer than walking on the ground and risk getting things stuck to one.
As he heard a crunching noise, he did not even flinch. This was Jengu. Not having someone around to watch you was the exception! Perhaps it just was a curious spirit or even a damned Cat Sí who watched them from the shadows. As long as they would not attack, Cissus saw no harm in it. It was only when he heard a clatter and rattle that he gritted his teeth in a snarl. "Smelt it!" Cissus cursed as he stopped and looked to the trees from which the noises came. He knew that the pathetic thing would follow them the whole way if they wouldn't get rid of them now. "Hello? Are there lone wanderers here? Please, I mean no harm. I am just Ciogach, the shellycoat." A voice suddenly rang from the bushes and sure enough, a cervine creature emerged. True to its name, its coat was covered in shells of various snails and other crustaceans. The kelpie growled. "Leave! Your mortal-loving perversions are not desired here!" Cissus hissed. This was a reason why he rarely left his pond. He hated those obnoxious creatures who always offered their help. "Please, I can be a guide. You search the trees of eternity, yes? I can bring you. Please, I mean no harm." The creature said in a naive and outrageously pleading manner. "Take a hint, Seelie-scum!" The kelpie spat but did not dare to leave the stream to maul some sense into the wretched creature. A shellycoat was not worth to get any more things stuck to him. He threw Aithne a glance. "Would you mind dealing with this disgrace of nature? Igniting it might be to your amusement." He said and trotted a little further down the stream to not get to feel the heat of her flames like earlier. "No, please. You are on the wrong path. You search a way out of these swamps, no? Please, I can show you the way! I mean no harm!" The shellycoat pleaded. "But we mean harm!" Cissus growled in annoyance. It was true that shellycoats knew these swamps better than a kelpie who only got out of his bog a few times a year did, who had wandered the way barely once. But he was too proud to admit that he was in the wrong here and that a shellycoat, of all creatures, was in the right. No, he would not stand this humiliation!

If one was to stay up to date in this world, one needed to make friends. Or at least, convince others that you were their friend. Aithnes feelings towards the...eccentric kelpie were rather indifferent, but she was beginning to feel that perhaps he could be of use to her as a rumor mill of sorts. Best to humor and flatter him, and perhaps she could convince him to keep an eye out for her. She had just opened her mouth to present this proposition to Cissus when he turned around quite abruptly, snarling at something in the bushes. He made quite a splash and she shook the water off of her legs in disgust before looking to see what had elicited such a reaction out of her guide.
Out of the bushes came an odd little deer-creature. The nauseating thing was covered in all sorts of snail and river-clam shells, and it made her wonder if its body was covered in slime underneath. Disgusting. "What do you want, scum? You are fae, so I will not kill you on sight, but my companion here claims you have committed the unforgivable crime of lengthening a mortals lifespan. For that you may well lose your life." She listened to the shellycoat plead and offer ways to the trees of eternity, and a way out of the swamp. "We are on the wrong path? You dare question my esteemed guides sense of direction in his own home?" Despite her exterior attitude, which was mostly for Cissus' benefit, she had a nagging suspicion that the shellycoat was right. The kelpie never left his bog. The wandering shellycoat surely knew the forest well. She would give it one chance. "My companion wishes you dead, but I will give you one chance, right now, to prove to me that you are right and this esteemed kelpie is wrong. I will not follow you, however, and my patience is thin, so you had better get creative." She grinned and allowed the barest hint of flame to lick up her legs to emphasize her point. She half turned so that only Cissus could see her face and gave him a wink. She did love playing with her victims.
