(It's okay. I was wondering where you'd got to but it's alright 😊)
Ellie jumped a little, surprised by the stern sounding voice. She spotted the stallion approaching and guessed that was her father. She looked a lot like him, kind of how Ellie resembled her father only she had more white. Ellie flinched as Evie was scolded, she had not meant to get her friend in trouble. She dipped her head respectfully as Evie introduced her.
Austin was not sure he liked leaving the situation as it was, but Evie was not his daughter and he did not know her father enough to make suggestions. Instead he dipped his head politely. "Pleased to meet you sir. We very much enjoyed Evie's company this afternoon, she was a pleasure to be near." He knew he was making something about nothing but he wanted to be sure her father knew she had been well behaved with them, and they enjoyed her being around. Maybe it would make him consider letting her come around more often. He dipped his head again. "We'd better head home. Good night sir. Good night Evie."
Ellie knew she had to go. She moved forward and gave Evie a quick hug. "I'm glad you came. I'll see you later." She went to her father and walked beside him looking back at Evie sadly.

Evie could see Austin trying to make the situation better, and inside herself thanked him for that, even though she knew it was for very little use. Her father would not remember it for long. "That is a surprise, but good to hear," her father answered Austin. Evie snorted quietly, making sure none of them heard it. Evie was surprised by Ellie's sudden hug, maybe because of the situation. I should not be, she thought. We are saying goodbye after all. She smiled. She was not a big hugger, but she had gotten used to Ellie's hugs. "I... uh, will maybe tell you about it here tomorrow, okay? I will see if I can get to see you one last time before we head home," Evie whispered in Ellie ear as they hugged. It must had been obvious that something had happened before they met, and she felt like Ellie deserved to know. "Let's go," her father said and turned around with nothing further to say. Evie was not in the mood to protest, so she turned around to leave with him. As she walked back, she turned her head around to see Ellie one last time. Ellie too was looking at Evie, but she looked so sad, so Evie tried to give a smile.

Ellie kept looking over her shoulder until they were lit of sight. She sighed quietly but her father heard it. He nuzzled her cheek gently. "I know sweet girl, but there wasn't much more we could do. Let's get back before we worry your mother." Ellie nodded and leaned against him as they walked. She hoped Evie could come by tomorrow. Maybe her parents would let her go visit in the morning.
Ellie slept poorly that night but wok at her normal time. She was finishing her food when her mother woke. "Mom do you think it would be alright If I went to Evie today? It isn't far and I'd be home before dark." Winnie thought a moment. "Let me talk to your father first. You wouldn't be leaving now anyway, very few get up as early as you." Ellie bit back a groan, and nodded. She went to the nearby field to run while she waited. She hated waiting.

To Evie's relief, they walked back together in silence. She did not want a day as good as this one ruined by another argument. She was also tired and just wanted to sleep.
Evie and her father arrived at the family quickly, since it had not been that far away. Her grandfather was already asleep, but her mother had stayed up and waited for them both to get home. Her father did not say anything and walked on, and Evie's mother came over. "Hi, sweetie.." she said. Evie sighed. "Don't... never mind." she was going to say "don't call me that," but she was still too tired. She only wanted to sleep away. "Where were you all day?" Evie felt bad for her. She was really trying. Trying to keep her out of trouble, trying to take care of her, trying to keep the family together. I don't remember ever thanking her for that... she thought. "I hung out with Ellie. Ellie from summer camp, remember?" "I remember her, you said she was very sweet." "Yeah, she still is," Evie said and blinked a few times trying to look more to sleepy than she actually was. "I am tired, I think will go to bed early today." "Okay then..." Evie started to wander over to the tree they were sleeping at this night. "Evie?" her mother said. Evie turned around. "Yeah?" She had a sad and worried face. "Can you at least try to forgive him?" It took Evie a moment to answer. "I want to... but he is making it hard. Just... give me time."

Ellie finally finished her laps as her parents walked towards her. "So can I?" Austin looked at Winnie who spoke. "Are you sure honey? You only know Evie, and you know who you are with strangers." Ellie kicked at the dying grass under her feet. "I know mom, but I did fine at camp and I can't get better if I don't try." Austin smiled gently and nodded. "Alright Ellie. You can go, but home before dark and be careful." Ellie bounded forward grinning and hugged both her parents. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Winnie nuzzled her cheek gently. "Stay safe dear, and come home if you get too anxious." Ellie nodded. "I will mom, I promise." She trotted off glancing over her shoulder. "See you later."
Ellie was not quite as confident as she tried to act, but she kept her pace. What was the worse that could happen? Her ears drooped slightly. She could embarrass Evie, or worse she could humiliate herself by just being her anxious quirky self. She shook her head hard, she couldn't think like that. She trotted faster following the tracks back towards Evie. She could see a small group in the distance and hoped it was Evie's family.

Despite being tired, it took Evie a long time to fall asleep. She did believe it was her grandfathers snoring, but she was not sure. She woke up at her normal time, just a little after the sun had risen up. She looked to her side where her grandfather was sleeping, but he was no longer there. She thought for a second that he was awake and therefore had to deal with him, but she then realized that he had just moved to sleep further away. Lazy old man, she thought. Her father was nowhere to be found. "'morning sweetie," her mother said. It took Evie by surprise. "Don't-" "-call you that?" her mother said, finishing her sentence. Evie sighed. "Yeah... and good morning," she said, and wondered how long a time it had been since she said that to her mother. Evie was usually already off when her parents woke up in the morning. She did say it to Samantha though. Every day before training she said it to her. "When will we be heading home?" Evie asked. "Around noon or afternoon," she answered. That is not a long time, Evie thought. Around five or six, maybe even seven hours if she was lucky.
Evie stood up, stretched and started to grass.

Ellie moved closer cautiously. She didn't want to interrupt anything or cause a fight, and she REALLY didn't want to ask for Evie only to get blank stares. There, that's Evie she thought as she spotted the familiar shape. She looked around for a friendly looking adult to greet first. It was the polite thing to do. She settled on a mare who looked nice and was closest to her. Evie was not too far from her either. She trotted over and cleared her throat to draw attention to herself.
"Ahem. Excuse me ma'am. My name is Ellie and, uh I was wondering if Evie was available to hang out?" She did her best to sound cheerful and pleasant and keep eye contact when the mare looked up.

The mare was surprised but Ellie, but not startled. "Oh! Ellie?" she said with a big smile. "I'm Scarlett. How nice to finally meet you." Scarlett made a little polite bow and pointed at the direction of Evie. "She just woke up, but you are more than welcome to spend time with her! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go, but it was so nice to see you!" she said. She let Ellie say her final words (if she has any ) and then she went on her way. "Shouldn't you be off training somewhere, young lady?" Evie's grandfather asked annoyed. She had apparently been interrupting his morning-nap. Great, he is awake."No, we did not bring her here, I will probably start again once we get back. Shouldn't you be working somewhere?" she asked back again at him, scornfully. He was a guard in this area, often at the storage. She felt bad for anyone who had to stand him at work, so it probably was for the better that no one had to deal with him. "I'm taking a day off ."Lasy old man, she thought for the second time. Words - 193

Ellie bowed in return. "Thank you Mrs Scarlett. It was nice to meet you." She turned and headed towards Evie. Her friend was grazing near an older looking stallion. She moved closer in time to hear the slight argument. It sounded like what her and her sisters did but without the friendly undertones. Eric had been teaching her how to read and gauge people to help alleviate some of her anxieties, and this stallion seemed the type to complain about everything so there was not much point in figuring out how to approach this.
She trotted closer as she called out. "Evie! Hey!" She came to a stop beside the grey filly with a grin. "I figured I'd visit you today since you came to me yesterday." She turned towards the stallion. "Greetings sir. I'm Elicia, Evie's friend from camp." She turned towards Evie again. "When your done eating breakfast maybe we can go for a walk, I know a bunch of trails around here. Or we can practice if you need to stay close."

Evie flicked her ear when she heard her name being called. "Ellie?" she said in surprise. She was not expecting to see her here, especially not after what had happened yesterday. She was afraid she had been scared off. Evie was just about to say something when Ellie, to Evie's surprise, turned and greeted Evie's grandfather.
"Hmpf, what a boring name. Why don't a pretty girl like you use your time with someone better than this failure here?" he asked but did not look like he was expecting an answer. Evie sighed and rolled her eyes. She wanted to say something but was too tired already. Instead, she trotted over to Ellie. "There is nothing I would rather do. Literally," she said. Anything to get away.

Ellie pinned her ears flat against her head at the stallion's words. What a horribly rude stud. She could hardly blame Evie for coming over yesterday. She snorted softly and glared at the stallion's back as Evie spoke. "I believe it. Come on there's some trails around here that still look nice." She trotted off quickly and once she had put some distance between them and the old stallion she muttered quietly to Evie. "I'd run away to a friend's place too if I had to be near him very long. What a cantankerous, crotchety, old coot." She shook her mane vigorously. "Anyway my favorite one is this way. It goes to a stream and further up is a lovely willow last time I went out it was still green."

Evie was more than happy to get away. "Yup, that my grandpa'. Not so weird anymore why I don't like coming here now, is it?" Evie pushed Ellie slightly friendly as the were walking. She put on a fun dramatic voice. "Oh thank you, gods, for sending me this angel to save me! Elicia, I will be forever in your debt," she said and bowed to her, praising her for fun. ~ "Still green?" she asked. Almost all the trees had turned red and brown at this point, and near a stream would just be been better, she was thirsty. She also really liked willows, they were very pretty she thought.

Ellie giggled at Evie's playing around. "Well it has been a couple days but we can always go see." She bumped Evie back and hopped away kicking out a little. "Come on let's run!" She darted ahead before slowing up to look over her shoulder and grin. She waited to see if Evie was following before continuing on.
The trail was just gorgeous. The trees were all shades of red, yellow, and orange with leaves drifting down. A carpet of leaves covered the ground except near the trail were some grass peeked out from under the cover. A few birds still fluttered through the canopy as the fillies headed along the trail. Ellie led the way, and soon they were traveling along the edge of the stream Ellie had mentioned. They came around a small bend and Ellie grinned. The willow wasn't quite green, it had started to fade to a yellow, but it was still beautiful. It sat on a high bank beside the stream. She turned and grinned at Evie. "There it is. I like coming out here to relax when I can."

"Oh, you're on!" Evie said and started running too. It might be morning, but she rarely said no to a race. Well, it was not that much a race, but still fun. Because it was not about being first, Evie could take time to enjoy the way that they ran, and with good reason. Everything had a pretty golden color to it, it would only be a few days until all the leaves were on the ground and full of mud. She had to enjoy it while she could. As they both ran, Evie started to hear the sound of a stream that only seemed to grow louder. She wanted to drink, but she did not want to stop either. She realized that Ellie had stopped in front of her and Evie slowed down as well. "There it is. I like coming out here to relax when I can," Ellie said. "I can see why," Evie replied while enjoying the view. The willow was big and there were not many trees in the small area around it, which made it stand out but in a good way. "It's pretty."

Ellie smiled happily. Evie was not one to say something unless she really thought it. Like Ellie had thought before she might not be tactful but she was honest. Something Ellie admired in others was honesty. Most others her age said one thing when they meant another. Being with Evie was refreshing in more ways than one.
Ellie paused a moment by the stream and got a drink. The water was cool and sweet on her tongue. She looked over at Evie and wondered about her family. None of them seemed very close which was a little shocking to Ellie. Then again she'd rarely seen any family dynamics other than her own. She didn't know how to ask so she didn't. She shook her mane and snorted softly. "I like running laps around it because it's so big, and it's close enough to the stream to use the water to cool off in summer, or as a jump when it's cooler like now. I also bring books that Eric checks out for me here. It's nice to relax under the branches. Come on." She trotted to the willow and pulled the hanging branches aside.
