Ellie | Scout Apprentice
Ellie smiled back. She scooted over to the edge and lay on her back. Her head and neck were well outside the sleeping area, but most of her was still inside. She looked over at Evie and grinned. "They look amazing! Come see!" The stars looked so close and bright. "I love looking at the sky. I can't wait till they teach us to glide, I've always wanted to fly." She yawned. She hasn't realized how wore out she was until now. After a few minutes she pulled her head back in, curled up and dozed off whispering 'good night' to Evie as she drifted off to sleep.
Eric watched the pair. While Evie might not have been his first pick for Ellie’s friend, She definitely had the confidence that Ellie desperately needed. Who knew, maybe Ellie would be a good influence on the independent filly. He would see about speaking to her tutor in the morning. Maybe they could try to keep these two paired up as often as possible.

"They look amazing! Come see!" Ellie said, and Evie quickly joined her. Looked quick around to see if any adults had seen them. One had, he looked like he was going to say something, but he then realized they were not running off, and he stayed back. She turned her head to the sky, and she had to agree with Ellie. They were beautiful, just as always. There were not a single cloud on the sky, and no leaves anymore, and since they were on a mountain, nothing to block the view. It was only starts 180 degrees in front of them and above them. "I love looking at the sky. I can't wait till they teach us to glide, I've always wanted to fly." Ellie said after a moment. "Yeah, me too. It will most likely not be this year, but still. We can dream, right?" Evie said. Both Evie and Ellie was quiet for a few minutes. They just looked at the sky. "Goodnight" Ellie said quiet. Evie had not even realized she had made herself ready to sleep. "Night-night" Evie said, and she turned her head to he sky. She wanted to stay up a little more. The whole day, she had planned that she wanted to sneak out at night. She was up for the challenge, even though it was not meant for first years. Now, she was not so sure anymore. It had been a long day, and honestly, she was sleepy. She could use some sleep. Not tonight, she thought for herself. Not tonight. She laid her head down, and tried to sleep. Tried. She could not. She stayed there for a long time, even though she really did try to sleep. She just laid there and thought. She thought of her parrents, who she did not have a really good relationship too. She thought of the other kids, and what they thought of her. Also Ellie. What did Ellie think of her? Evie started to doubt herself, she could not figure out if she cared. Did she care what people thought of her, or did she not? She became angry. She did not know why or who to blame, and thay confused her even more. Fuck it. she thought. Fuck everything. She stood up, and walked. Just a few meters forward. Now, she was technically out of the sleeping area, but there was no one to stop her. She just stood there. Her head was a mess. A mess of selfdoubt, confusion, fault-feeling and a blame she did not know who to give.

Ellie wasn’t sure what woke her, but when she rolled over Evie wasn’t there. Ellie’s head shot up she scanned the area for the blue-green glow of Evie’s markings. She hadn’t realized it but Evie’s presence was nearly as comforting as Eric’s. She finally spotted her, a few meters away from the sleeping area. Just standing with her head down. Ellie scanned the area. She didn’t see any one else, so Evie was safe for now. Ellie checked around her. Eric was the only one close by and unless she screamed in his ear he wasn’t getting up.
“Evie.” She whispered “Evie, what are you doing? Come back quick before a camp worker shows up.” She looked around not sure if Evie had even heard her. Wait what was that? She looked around, a worker was coming. “Evie, there is someone coming, quick get back in here!” She hissed. If Evie didn’t move soon she would be caught. Ellie thought quickly, she had to think of a plan in case Evie was caught. She didn’t want the grey filly to get in any trouble.

"Evie" Ellie whispered. “Evie, what are you doing? Come back quick before a camp worker shows up.” Evie appreciated that. She sounded like she tried to help. "Not now Ellie, I am not in the mood to talk", she said, without turning around. She wanted to be alone with her thought, at least for a few moments more. Also, Evie had seen the campworker that was looking after them, was sleeping. “Evie, there is someone coming, quick get back in here!” Ellie said, this time more seriously. Can she not hear me?! Wait, what? Shit, the camp worker woke up, she thought for herself. "Ellie, leave me alone," Evie said. She was too deep in her thought to care about a simple camp worker. I can handle them, maybe they will even let me alone.

Something was bothering Evie. Ellie understood needing some space, and wanting to be alone, but she was not about to leave her alone to get in trouble. She stood and fidgeted at the edge of the sleeping area. She had never intentionally broken a rule before. She shook herself, she did not have time to dither the worker was coming closer. She took a deep breath and lurched out from under the trees to Evie’s side. She stayed between Evie and the worker pretending to shake the grey filly. She spoke a little louder than what was probably needed, but she wanted to be sure the worker heard her.
“Evie wake up, you’re sleep walking again.” She could barely hear the worker coming up faster, if was muffled by the pounding of her heart.
“Hey what are you two doing up?” The mare sounded more curious than angry. Even first years knew how to hide better than what these two were doing. Ellie turned to her and gave the mare her best smile.
“My friend sleep walks sometimes, I was trying to wake her up so we could both get back inside.” She shook Evie’s shoulders gently. “Come on Evie let’s go back to bed.” Ellie had no idea is the worker bought this little act, but it had been worth a shot. If Evie played along they might both get off with a small warning instead of whatever punishments they gave out to those sneaking around after dark.

Evie | Scout Apprentice
Ellie had been right about the camp worker, she really was there. Evie did not move. Not because she froze or were scarred or anything like that, she simply did not care. She still had a bit of the angry "fuck it"-feeling left in her. Out of nowhere, Ellie stood next to her, and started shaking her. Evie started "What the he-!" - “Evie wake up, you’re sleep walking again.” Ellie said, loud for some reason that Evie did not understand. What.The.Fuck. she thought. Sleepwalking?! “Hey what are you two doing up?” a adult female voice said. The campworker. What was Evie going to say? "Leave me alone?". If Evie had been alone, she had told the camp worker to leave her alone. The camp worker (of course) would not do such thing, and Evie would end up at some kind of trouble with the camp leader. But she was not alone, not this time. Ellie was here, and Evie did not want her in trouble. She wanted to come up with an exuse, but Ellie was faster then Evie. “My friend sleep walks sometimes, I was trying to wake her up so we could both get back inside.” It then clicked for Evie, everything Ellie had done to this point. OooOoohh! she thought. “Come on Evie let’s go back to bed.” she said. The camp worker looked skeptical at them. "Sleepwalking? Really?." It was now Evie's turn to act. "Yeah, it's true. I have sleepwalked my whole life. We will go back now," Evie said, and turned around before hearing a answer from the camp worker. And she did not say anything. She just looked after them, as they walked back. If she belived them, or if she simply did not care and let them go, Evie did not know.

Ellie managed a small good night as she followed Evie back to where they had been sleeping. The camp worker did not look convinced, but it was a believable enough story and the girls were quietly returning to bed. The mare walked on to check the next area.
Ellie followed Evie in and laid down. She did not expect Evie to talk. After all the entire reason, she had been out there was to be alone. She looked over at Evie. She might think she had to talk, apologize or explain herself so Ellie made sure she knew it wasn’t needed.
“You don’t have to say anything. Let’s just try and sleep.” She snuggled down and lay still, but she didn’t relax. She was waiting for Evie to fall asleep, before she would. Something was troubling Evie, and Ellie wished she knew what to do to help. She was not good at talking. She was to honest and blunt, not many people could handle that. Since Ellie didn’t know how to talk to her and help, she would watch out for her. The second Evie fell asleep Ellie would too.

She did not have to do that, was what Evie thought. But she did anyway. They were both very quiet when they walked back, and lai down on the ground. “You don’t have to say anything. Let’s just try and sleep”, Ellie said. Evie did not say much. A careless "Sure" came out of her mouth. She laid down. She could feel all the small blades of grass she laid on. She secretively looked over at Ellie. She semmed to keep an eye on her. Evie wondered why she had helped her. She only knew her for a day, and she was shy, and probaly never broke a rule. Had she ever broken a rule at all? Taken a step against the adults, she did not seem like a person to do so. But she did anyway. "Thanks" Evie mumbled, and she closed her eyes.

Ellie barely heard the muttered thank you but it made her smile a bit. It was nice to hear she was appreciated. She drifted off to sleep with that smile on her face.
She was up with the sun like she always was and shook Eric awake. She was ready to go do something and was not sure how much trouble she would get in if she didn’t have him with. He rolled over and yawned.
“Why are you always up so early?” he muttered as he got to his feet.
“Because there is so much to do. Can we get started or at least go for a run?” Eric groaned.
“You don’t need me for a run.”
“I do if I don’t want to get in trouble. You can go back to sleep once we are far enough away from the others.” Eric began trudging away.
“Fine, come on.”
They walked to the edge of camp, where Eric promptly went back to sleep while Ellie got to run. She ran until she heard the sounds of people stirring. She went back to Eric.
“Breakfast is ready.” The stallion was instantly on his feet. Ellie laughed as she followed him to breakfast. She still was not comfortable with the crowds, but it wasn’t as bad as yesterday.

Evie | Scout Apprentice
When Evie woke up, Ellie and Eric was already gone. At the night, Samantha had came up and joined them, so she was sleeping next to her. Evie looked at her. She was so pretty, even when she sleept. Evi stayed down for a while. Just sitting there and resting. When she had done that, and Samantha still did not wake up, Evie decided to get up and eat some food. Since it was morning, and people was starting to get up, no one tried to stop her on the way to the eating place. She ate a little there, but not much. She got bored, so she took a pear and she walked over to the edge she had been at the day before. No one was there. She laid down, with her front legs hanhing over the edge, and she took a bite of the pear. It was sweet. Evie sat there an relaxed for a long time. She was not sad ot angry like she had been yeasterday, she simple sat there.

Ellie looked for Evie in the breakfast crowd but didn't see her. "Oh well I will see her around." She thought. She finished her food quickly sticking close to Eric. She didn't want to run into that colt again. After breakfast several of the camp counselors gathered a couple campers each and took them off a little way and spoke with them. Ellie wasn't sure what that was all about but she wanted no part of it.She spoke quietly to Eric. "You mind if I get some alone time?" Eric gave her a wink and looked away. Ellie smiled and headed for the cliff. She hung out there until nearly lunch.

Evie | Scout Apprentice
Evie sat at the cliff for a long time, she sat there until Samantha came. "This is the second time you run of to be here" she said. She sounded joking, but there was a hint of truth and upbringing in it. "Also, you are still not allowed to be here without me or any other tutor around" - "Please don't try to raise me, I got my parrents to do that" Evie said, without facing away from the horizen. She pushed the core of the pear over the edge. Samantha sat next to her. "They are not here now", she said. Samantha knew about Evie and her parrents relationship, therefor she also knew why she was so important to to Evie. Samantha did not look at her either, they both starred into the unknown. "Will you be mad if I sneak out at night?" Evie suddenly asked. Evie had never asked 'permission' to break a rule before. "Nahh, I did the same when I was your age. It is weird how parrents get angry at their children, at what they used to do themself". Evie smiled. She is so cool, she thought. And she was. The coolest turor ever! After a short while, they both got up. It was time to train. Ot was one of the reasons why they were here after all. She trained magic that day. Evie loved it, and even though the nmagic in her woke up just a few month ago, she was getting good at it. She did not try to train with others her age, she simply did with Samantha.

Ellie | Scout Apprentice
Ellie loved the little hiding spot Eric had shown her. She could look off the cliff forever. She knew she should get back soon, Eric could only cover for her for so long. Besides the whole point of being here was to train.
Ellie slipped through the crack, checking carefully to be sure no one saw her.She headed off to find Eric she something moved in front of her blocking her path. She recognized that shade of gold. The colt from yesterday was back. Ellie backed up a little. She had avoided looking at him yesterday but now she looked him over. He was a palomino with grey eyes. He glared at her. "Look at you. You must be an idiot going out alone." He shoved her like he did yesterday. She stumbled a bit but stayed on her feet. Ellie had worried about running into this colt. She looked around. Several campers of different ages had gathered. None of them looked like they were going to help. She looked back at the colt. She took a deep shaky breath and spoke in an unsteady voice. "Please leave me alone. I already apologized what else could you want?" The colt laughed at her "What could I want? I watched to teach you a lesson you little wuss. If you can't take it maybe you should think twice before crossing some one like me."
Ellie's mind raced. She could hear Jynx begging to get out but she promised Eric. She backed a bit. Eric thought she could do it, the least she could do was try. She reached out with her magic and felt the air. She called it to her as she watched the colt, hopefully she looked more confident than she felt. When he charged her she threw the air as hard as she could. To he surprise it knocked him over and rolled him a meter or so. He got to his feet and glared at her. She pushed more air at him and could feel him do the same. They pushed back and forth Ellie could feel him weaken, but she was too. They both stopped using their magic about the same time. The smug look returned to his face and he charged at her. "Keep calm." She told herself. She moved aside and let him run past. He turned and came at her again, slower this time. Ellie instinctively ran forward into his chest. Eric had told her that was her best option. Most would be taller than her so staying back would not be in her best interest. She shoved his chest and pulled back just enough to rear. She brought her knee up square in his chin. His eyes rolled up and he crumpled to the ground. Ellie lunch out a breath and looked around. The some of others who had been watching looked impressed others looked bored. They all drifted away while Ellie tried to calm down an figure out what to do about the unconscious colt in front of her.

Evie | Scout Apprentice
Evie heard voices. Young male voices, talkning somewhere near her. It did not sound well, so she turned around to try to find them. She was a little group of people standing near the cliff. "I will be back in a moment" she said to Samantha, and she headed towards the group. She saw a unconscious colt laying down, and the group of boys looking at something - or someone - else. "What the hell happened here?!" she said. And just as that the group split up and walked away without a word. She confused looked around on them, but none of them looked like they would answer her question. Left, stood only a little filly. Evie could barely belive her eyes. "Ellie?" she asked. She walked over and she looked at the colt laying on the ground. Evie realized what had happened. "No way! I can barely belive it!" she looked at Ellie. "You started a fight before I did!"

Ellie heard a familiar voice and relaxed. Evie would know what to do.She couldn't tell if Evie was more surprised or impressed with what she had done. "You started a fight before I did!" Ellie ducked her head and blushed. She wasn't truly proud of herself but she kind of liked how Evie was looking at her. "I didn't mean to... I mean I wasn't trying..." She took a breath and gathered her thoughts. "He came at me first. He didn't leave me much choice." She looked at Evie. "As much as I don't like to fight I like getting beat up less." She looked at the colt, and looked back at Evie. "Any ideas?"
